HLT Ignites "Miss Firecracker" at New Venue
The acclaimed Beth Henley play will be performed by Hendersonville Little Theatre at their new venue located at 229 South Washington Street.
Hendersonville Little Theatre
Hendersonville Little Theatre is setting the stage for "The Miss Firecracker Contest" by Beth Henley now through July 22.
The two-act play was the first work author Beth Henley wrote after "Crimes of the Heart," but it was already in production before that play won the Pulitzer Prize. This Southern Gothic comedy presents Carnelle, an irrepressible young woman who thinks that winning the local beauty contest will restore her soiled reputation and make her somebody in her small Mississippi community. Family and friends helping her along the way are a dysfunctional bunch who tackle life in their own peculiar ways. The general conclusion the characters reach is that, even if the real you is not the fulfillment of your hopes, you will be more at peace if you learn to define and accept your own self.
Performances will be at Hendersonville Little Theatre’s new venue at 229 South Washington Street. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students under age 18. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m..
Tickets can be ordered online at hendersonvillelittletheatre.org or by phone at 828-692-1082.
