Time to Get Those Flu Shots ... For Free

The Henderson County Health Department and Henderson County Public Schools are teaming up to get students a dose of flu protection.

The first of two seasonal flu shot clinics will be held Wednesday, September 29, at Sugarloaf Elementary School's cafeteria from 3:30-6pm. A second clinic will happen at Mills River Elementary School's cafeteria on Thursday, October 7, from 3:30-6pm.

There is no charge for the vaccine, and parents can bring their children to whichever clinic they choose as the same service is available at each site. Parents must complete a consent form in order for their child to receive the vaccine. They can be downloaded in English or Spanish from the Health Department Web site. Although the vaccine is provided at no charge, parents should bring Medicaid cards if they have them. The flu vaccine is recommended for all age groups this season.

The vaccine will be available in both an injection and nasal spray.
