Scott Treadway Ending His Run at the Flat Rock Playhouse

Well it's not a surprise, but it's hard to imagine the Flat Rock Playhouse without Scott Treadway. According to the Times-News, "Scott Treadway, one of the Blue Ridge's most popular actors, has resigned from his position as associate artistic director of the Flat Rock Playhouse. His last day is Dec. 22."

Sharon Stokes, public relations coordinator for the Playhouse, said Wednesday she is among the many who will miss Treadway's presence.

"Scott's legacy is vast as a person and a performer, and his daily presence here at the Playhouse will be missed. However, I hope that our friendship continues. I have nothing but love for Scott and Ava and wish for their continued success, joy and happiness," Stokes said.

Flat Rock Playhouse patrons have enjoyed watching Treadway on the stage for years. The same is true for the people who work with him on a daily basis on the Rock.

Flat Rock Playhouse General Manager Dale Bartlett said of Treadway, "As so many folks have enjoyed watching Scott on stage, so have I enjoyed working with him. He is a good guy."

Another Playhouse veteran, Neela Munoz, shared these touching comments about her friend.

"I jokingly asked Scott what he would like me to say when people asked for comments about him. He replied, 'Tell them I am available to do their headshots.' We both laughed. In fact, it's impossible to spend time with him and NOT laugh. In looking back over the years, I get the joy of flashbacks: how he can figure out 'Rocky Top' on any musical instrument, how he tries to convince cheese connoisseurs that Velveeta is the perfect combination of eight natural cheeses, and how he toys with his beautiful daughter, asking her, 'Am I pretty?' as he contorts his face. It's obvious to say that Scott is a great actor and creates unique and memorable characters, but he's also a great buddy, and Dad. I feel like I'm prematurely eulogizing him. I see him every day as we do It's a Wonderful Life at the courthouse. Plus we'll be working together at NC Stage doing Boeing Boeing in February. I simply can't and won't say "goodbye." I'd rather say, 'What's next?"
