Go Get a Piece of the Pie
If you’re wanting some fresh-baked pie, head to downtown Hendersonville on Saturday.
A Piece of the Pie, located at 540 North Main Street next to the Skyland Performing Arts Center, is scheduled to open Saturday, and from 4 to 7 pm, people can drop by to sample a free piece of pie. The business is owned by Alexis Tefnar, who, after being away from the pie-making business, decided it was time to do it again.
“My husband and I are from this area, and I used to own a pie shop and restaurant years ago when my children were toddlers,” Tefnar said. “I just wanted to do it again myself.”
People with a sweet tooth will be glad to read this. She said A Piece of the Pie is “all dessert” but everything is focused around pies. There will also be plenty of coffee on hand to go with those sweet treats.
“It really is quite simple,” she said of the new business.
What will be hard is deciding what type of pie you’d like to taste. She said she’ll make about 15 pies a day, with blueberry and cherry pies among her best sellers.
“Everything is fresh, and there’s no artificial anything, so it tends to make a really yummy pie,” she said.
The work of artist Jason Brown can be found on the shop’s walls as he created a nice mural for people to view as they sit and enjoy their dessert. It seems there are a lot of people out there who are anxious for the shop to open, she said.
“I hope people will come in. People sure have been dropping by a lot,” she said. “From 4 to 7 (Saturday), we’re giving away some pie.”
