Flat Rock Playhouse Heading Back to Downtown Stage
On the heels of this summer's successful production of 12 Angry Men at the Historic Henderson County Courthouse, Flat Rock Playhouse announced Wednesday that two more productions are proposed for the courthouse. The playhouse says county commissioners have given approval for the playhouse to present A Few Good Men in early fall and will consider a request to present a new adaptation of Miracle on 34th Street at their next meeting in early September.
An official announcement will be made Friday, August, 20, at noon on the steps of the historic downtown courthouse. The playhouse's producing artistic director, Vincent Marini, will discuss the latest on the fall and winter season, and political representatives of the county will also be on hand.
A Few Good Men is on stage October 6-31. Interestingly, the first act of the military courtroom drama will begin in the Courthouse Community Room before transferring to the main courtroom during intermission. Miracle on 34th Street will be onstage November 17-December 19 pending county approval.
The Playhouse also announced changes to the Mainstage schedule as a result of the two additional shows. In place of Treasure Island and A Christmas Carol, the playhouse will present The Prisoner of Second Avenue by Neil Simon from October 27-November 21 and a non-musical version of A Christmas Carol from December 1-23.
