Catch the New Vue in Hendersonville
By Leigh Wills
The owner of the Inn on Church recently purchased another downtown Hendersonville business, The Vue.
Sydney Slome bought the Vue Wine Bar at 123 Fifth Avenue East this month from Ariel Glassman and Lawrence Kobesky. Slome says he has enjoyed Hendersonville’s charm since purchasing the inn and was looking for another business opportunity when he caught a glimpse of The Vue.
“I love the little town of Hendersonville very much. I fell in love with it and wanted another footprint in food and beverage and found the Vue,” Slome says. “Ariel and Lawrence, the previous owners, provided excellent food and a wonderful ambiance. I liked the place very much and approached them about acquiring it.”
The Vue has been known as a wine bar, but under his ownership, Slome says the focus will be on the cuisine that relies heavily on local, organic foods. But he assures diners there will still be a large wine selection to compliment the food.
Executive Chef Mike Atkinson says he hopes to build on what Kobesky started. “My thing is kind of classical, kind of eclectic, but definitely all about the farmers and the fresh produce. Before this place was thought of as a wine bar that had food. It is my intention that this is a restaurant that has wine.”
The Vue is now starting to book holiday parties, offering an upstairs area that can host banquets and parties. Atkinson says he is also planning a November 3 wine dinner by reservation only, as well as a farmer's dinner where a grower will provide the food included in the meal and discuss his farming operation with diners.
