An Enchanted Evening in Hendersonville

A few days ago I was lucky enough to attend a rehearsal for An Enchanted Evening, a revue of love songs from American musicals presented by the Arts Council of Henderson County. Francis Cullinan, the creator and director of the show, welcomed me to the Fletcher Feed and Seed, an old country store that has been converted into a small theater, that serves as a central rehearsal location for all involved in the production.

What a privilege it was to hear vocalists, Carol Duermit, Cathy Walgenbach, and Michael Cheek share with me samplings of Stephen Sondheim’s “Love is in the Air” and Leonard Bernstein's “Tonight” while music director, Brad Curtioff accompanied them on the piano.  If this was what just the rehearsal sounds like, I can’t wait to hear the full production!

An Enchanted Evening will be held Upstairs at Mikes on Main in downtown Hendersonville on November 4, 5, and 6 at 8 pm. Visit the Arts Council of Henderson County’s Calendar page for more information about the upcoming performance.
