In the old days, if you had a particularly thorny gardening or landscaping problem you would go to somebody in the community who had bushels of experience and could provide the advice and guidance you needed.
Well, fortunately, in Hendersonville that kind of resource is still available and easily accessed. At Garden Gate Nursery, Mickey and Michael Lively and their right-hand man Bjorn Sheridan have a combined gardening experience of more than 70 years. Over the past 20 years, they’ve landscaped more than 900 homes in Western North Carolina.
In that time, they have encountered just about every gardening, landscaping, and plant-growing problem known to mankind. They are especially expert in gardening issues affecting Western North Carolina growers.
Besides their remarkable track record and combined experience in the field, Garden Gate Nursery has a complete inventory of garden favorites, as well as rare and unusual plants. It’s important to get your garden off to a proper start, Mickey says, no matter if it’s full of exotic species or an abundance of vegetables.
Their stock includes trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, vegetables, potting soils and mulch, as well as soil amendments such as mushroom compost and worm castings. There is also a comprehensive supply of locally grown, native plants. Plans are underway for a new 5,000 square-foot store to be opened later this fall. The new store will feature tools, accessories, drip irrigation supplies, and rainwater harvesting products.
