Laurel Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America (EGA)

The purpose of this chapter is to celebrate the heritage of embroidery. Founded in 1990, this group now has about 55 members. Each month a new technique is taught at the general meeting such as silk ribbon embroidery, framing, needle lace, canvas work, and beading.  In addition there are specialty groups of about 10 who meet monthly at members’ homes to concentrate on a specific type of needle art.

Outreach projects for the chapter include blankets for Project Linus, wall hangings for Habitat for Humanity, and "stitch-ins" at local events such as Johnson Farms and area libraries.

Meeting Schedule:  Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at Cummings United   Methodist Church in Horse Shoe, NC.  Registration is 9:30 to 10:00 A.M. followed by a short business meeting and the program.  All are welcome.
