A weekend-long celebration in Tryon, honoring the legendary Nina Simone, was capped by the dedication of a bronze over-life-size sculpture by Philadelphia-based sculptor Zenos Frudakis. Simone's daughter, performer Lisa Simone Kelly (known as Simone) was on hand for the ceremony and performed in a concert Sunday evening. White doves were released as the sculpture was dedicated.
